I Googled and found one used at some guitar center store, for $235.00 but I don't know if they ship otherwise on ebay for around 500, but like i said I am more Leary of buying used guitars on ebay than say some other gear.People who are long-time fans of metal or rock music know that an excellent electric guitar can uplift the entire song and its vibe. Question have you actually played The S520 or the RG470FM? Just curious. If I had a grand in my hand right now I'd get that coveted Mic-Pre or compressor. I do not play live and thought I had enough guitars and amps and have been buying more recording gear like building up my mic locker and other OTB hardware units. I only just recently started toying with buying a FR type guitar. I have no problem installing replacement pups and or electronics. usually.Д¬lick to expand.Thanks, you know I have done the same thing you are suggesting, meaning someone posts a thread of wanting some gear with a price ceiling and advising to either save or get something well beyond that price-point. The caveat to most Ibanez is that you must prepare theyself for a pickup swap. By no means pretty guitars, and usually the basswood can get pretty beat up, but the necks are great. You can also find the RG570 and RG560 come in cheaper than the 550, one is sans pickguard the other is HSS. The old 550's are starting to climb above the 500 bucks they've usually been but the RG1570 is no slouch and can be found. With $500 and a bit of patience you should be able to find a Japanese RG that will slay everything mentioned above.

The Edge Pro was also a solid trem, a bit of a step down imo but it worked. The Original Edge and Lo-Pro version are incredible trems. I don't believe it be very advisable to get any guitar that is equipped with a licensed trem. I know the pups in all the above would get replaced I can do basic setup work, but don't want serious issues with frets and bad necks. I do want to hear any comments regarding the above instruments and if buying online, I will go with a trusted retailer with a good return policy, but would like to avoid a headache. So pretty much 5 bills give or take a few. I am looking locally for used in case I get lucky, however Craigslist here in my area is a joke, so pawn shops, consignments etc.

I am kind of leaning Jackson because of the necks however I did have a retailer admit that they are seeing more Jackson with serious issues like twisted necks(I asked about frets and got that reply). So to wrap up this post my main concern is a workable/reliable tremolo(well with a grain of salt) and also QC concerns.

Since both have the same tremolo and neck we are talking about the S series being a somewhat thinner/lighter axe. I have had some in the past and know how to set them up and know what a pita it can be. None of my 7 axes has a Floyd type tremolo.
